Detachment Information

The Marine Corps League is the only Congressional chartered

United States Marine Corps related veterans organization

in the United States.  Its ranks are comprised of Marines and

Marine Veterans who have served honorably in the Corps.

The League aims to perpetuate the traditions and spirit of the

Marine Corps through association with Marines who have

served under  the Eagle, Globe and Anchor.

The only membership qualification is honorable service,

in excess of  90 days, in the Marines or as a Navy Corpsman

who served with a U.S. Marine FMF Unit for more than

90 days in accordance with the National By-Laws

of the Marine Corps League.

This means that, regardless of rank held or when or where they

may have served, that any Marine, male or female, is welcome

in the Marine Corps League.

Northwest Suburban Marine Corps League Detachment #80 was established and chartered  as a non-profit organization in July of 1946.

We meet at 7:30 pm on the 3rd Wednesday of every month

at the Merle Guild American Legion Hall located at

121 N Douglas Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL.

Our fundraising activities include membership dues, contributions

and various fundraisers. These provide the monetary means by

which we accomplish our services and social missions.

A common trait of League members is the spirit of Semper Fidelis,

the spirit of “Always Faithful” to God, Country and Corps.

So deeply is this ingrained in our members, that long after they

have hung up their uniforms, they still call each other “Marine”.

Each seems to hold the League slogan as a personal truth

" Once a Marine – Always a Marine.”

The detachment supports and participates in various programs such as:

  • The Toys for Tot’s Program collecting thousands of toys for distribution to needy children. We work with the U.S. Marine Reserve Unit 2/24 located on Foster Avenue in Chicago. An annual Dinner Dance is hosted by us every October.
  • The Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout Program
  • The Honor Flight Program
  • The Heart of a Marine Foundation
  • Semper Fi Fund
  • We also participate in community events and parades in the Northwest Suburban area.
